John Hookway - I was the founder and owner of Water Management Services Ltd (12 years). It was a specialist surveying company; providing surveys of water supply and drainage, highlighting faults and detecting leakage above and below ground. Clients included large industrial companies; Rolls Royce, British Gas, GEC etc, including supply companies STWA, Thames Water etc. I employed 30 people with offices in Stratford on Avon, York in the UK and the USA. I was also a Sales / Operation Engineer with Palmer Environmental Ltd (3 years) - a survey and manufacturing company; providing surveys of underground water systems and leak detection. The sales function included the setting up of agencies worldwide; Africa, Asia and the Middle East. I had responsibility for the setting up and running of training courses for the use and methodology of the equipment supplied. When I first heard of Mark's intention to do his 'walk for water' I was very pleased that someone not connected with the industry would take such a bold and brave initiative. Having travelled quite extensively looking at water resources around the world we in the UK for the most part do no appreciate what a vital part of life a sustainable water resource is. Having been asked by Mark to lend support and any technical assistance that I am able to provide, I am more than pleased to do so and wish him every success in his very worthwhile and altruistic endeavor.
