Mark Spriggs – I’m an actor, writer, and some time long distance walker. My friends call me Marko on account of how much time I’ve spent living and working in the Mediterranean. I dreamed up the idea of doing a very long walk for water soon after returning from a 750 mile trek across France and Spain in 2006. I would like to walk and document the journey through photographic and written journals and raise as much money as possible for what I believe is the first basic step toward ‘making poverty history’ – providing safe water and sanitation for everyone. I believe that we are at a critical time in dealing with the global water situation, that now is the time for increased advocacy for this cause and better education about the issues connected with this crisis. 2.6 billion people without the use of a toilet is not something that any one living in the modern world today should be proud of. I want to harness my energy to fight this injustice and champion the work of organisations like Pump Aid.
